Nakato

Building a CATANA to be based in Nouméa (New Caledonia) was an exciting challenge for the whole team. "NAKATO" was to be the first CATANA 411 seen in that part of the Pacific.
Richard, the owner is an architect based in Nouméa. He thought his boat needed special modifications to sail in this part of the world, which at the beginning we considered with caution. At the launching of "NAKATO" we did acknowledge that Richard had great ideas and decided to apply them to all the CATANA going out of the shipyard : thermal insulation (to the sun) and permanent ventilation of the boat.
Our system enables a CATANA to have a constant breeze going through. This advantage added to the perfect insulation of the deck enabled to reduce the temperature by a few degree inside "NAKATO" even during squalls in the tropics.

Richard who became an expert in the use of his dagger boards, hasn't found a faster boat than his, even while reaching. Going downwind he shows the other crews that his CATANA is fully equipped with solar panels.
