Esprit de Tizza

Preparing a CATANA for severe weather conditions is part of our job. Preparing the crew is another problem. The CATANA 531 "Esprit de Tizza" crew was certainly strongly worrying about this in the morning of this Thursday the 2d of November 1995.
Taking part to the Transat des Alizés, "Esprit de Tizza" had caught up all the other competitors in the first night after a departure without any wind. The crew agreed to keep on going and cross the Lion Gulf. They didn't know that they would face a terrible hurricane with winds reaching 80 knots and straight short wave 8 meters high.
The numerous interventions of the coasts guards for the rest of the fleet have led to a second ground the performance of our CATANA 531 who arrived first in Cassablanca (Morocco).

No matter, the journey keeps on going and the owner is more proud and reassured than ever to have made it through such severe conditions. The Caribbean islands, their atmosphere, the white sand beaches, on which "esprit de tizza" rests her hulls have passed over the apocalyptic memories.
Later on, entering the bay of New York, Esprit de Tizza and the statue of Liberty, both symbols of freedom would greed each others. Then she will go east. The tough weather encountered on her trip back will offer the crew new records : 270 miles then 283 miles in a day !! A short stopover in the Azores and then through the Gibraltar Detroit to the Mediterranean. "Esprit de Tizza" now waits, safely docked in Cogolin (French Riviera), not tired at all, to leave for new adventures, new horizons. She has proven that she was a great Blue Water catamaran.
